- [Instructor] Most people think that layer styles are just for adding simple effects like strokes and drop shadows, but they're so much more powerful than that. Let's take a moment to explore some of the additional layer effect options that are available to us by adding them to this illustration to completely change the appearance. Now, before we start, we're going to need to add a pattern overlay that's not loaded by default. So in the Patterns panel, use the flyout menu and choose Legacy Patterns and More. Once those are loaded, you'll see a folder called Legacy Patterns and More right here in the Patterns panel. But we're not going to add it from here, so let's double-click to collapse that. And with the Creatures layer group targeted, here are the three creatures that we're going to add the layer effects to. I'll choose the effects icon at the bottom of the Layers panel, and we'll start by adding a pattern overlay. In the Pattern Overlay options, I've set the Blend Mode to Normal…
