Applying blend modes to multiple layers and groups

- There's an important difference between applying blend modes to individual layers, versus applying blend modes to layer groups. In this document, I have one layer group that just contains these background circles and then I have another layer group that contains the bowling ball and the large pin and the small pin in the upper left. And all of these layers are set to normal blend mode and the top group is set to pass through. Now, let's take a look at the next group. So in the group in the upper right, I'm going to select all three of the individual layers and I'm going to change the blend mode to, multiply. So now, the bowling ball is being multiplied with the large pin and the small pin and then they're all being multiplied with the circles below them. Alright, let's take a look at the next group. This time, instead of setting each individual layer to the blend mode of, multiply, I'm going to set the group to, multiply. When I do this, we get a very different effect. Photoshop is…
