Applying blend modes to adjustment layers

- [Instructor] Typically, Photoshop's adjustment layers affect both the colors and the luminosity values in an image. However, there are times when we want to isolate the effects of the adjustment to a single component such as hue, saturation, color, or luminosity. One of the easiest ways to restrict the way that an adjustment layer blends with the layers below is by using blend modes. Now, in the first example, I want to increase the dynamic range of the image using a Curves adjustment layer. So from the bottom of the layers panel, I'll choose the Curves adjustment layer, and then I'll set my black point by moving over the slider and the white point as well. However, when I make this big change to the dynamic range, we're also seeing a shift and an increase in saturation. So in the layers panel, I'm going to change the blend mode from Normal to Luminosity.
