Turn "I" into "we"
- Try to be conscious of how often we use I statements. Well, I solved that scheduling conflict or, yeah, I organized the presentation for next week. I mean, it's natural, but those statements can unintentionally be isolating. Try this, turn that I eye into we. Studies and workplace dynamics specifically highlight that inclusive language creates a sense of shared purpose and strengthens the team. So here's the tip. Of course, it sounds ridiculous to say we took out the trash when you actually took out the trash, but you can reframe it to say, we did a really good job cleaning the kitchen together. In your next conversation, email, replace I with we when discussing outcomes. It creates a stronger sense of unity and shared success.
