Making vector masks with the Pen tool
- [Instructor] In this movie, my objective is to cut out this smiley viewer and put it onto this background. Both images are the same size in pixels. I'm going to first of all drag this image onto my background image. In my move tool, I'll just drag up to the tab of the other image and because I want this image to register perfectly, I'll hold down Command and Shift or Control and Shift. We now have an image made up of two layers. Now I'm using the pen tool here to isolate my subject because my subject is man-made with sharply defined edges. And while I could attempt to do this with the freeform pen tool, and some people prefer the curvature pen tool, I'm going to use just the regular pen tool starting with nothing more than a series of straight line segments connected by anchor points. I'm clicking where the direction of the curve changes. Going all the way around my subject until I get back to the beginning. We'll see the circle next to the pen tool, and when I click on that…
