Applying EQ to tracks
- EQ or equalization is another technique that is commonly used by producers. The aim of EQ to emphasize certain frequencies of a sound, whilst dampening others. It is also a great way of mixing in sounds that might otherwise clash, and ensuring that both can be heard clearly by the mixer. FL Studio offers a great EQ tool with visual elements called Fruity Parametric EQ 2, that allows you to adjust frequencies in graphical form. We've got our exercise files opened and a demo lead sound installed as well, let's just take a listen to what it sounds like in its original form. (dark electronic music) What we'll now do is load the Fruity Parametric EQ 2 in and adjust certain frequencies so that you can see what EQ sounds like when adjusted. To do this, first of all, we're going to link the sound to the mixer, by selecting View Channel rack, select the Channel rack button for Lead, go the mixer, and once again select an empty insert and link it to the mixer.
