What you need to know before starting this course
- [Garrick] Before we jump into GarageBand, I just want to make sure to get a couple of important points across. First, GarageBand does not come pre-installed on your iPad or iOS device. However, it is free and you can download it by going to the App Store and searching for GarageBand. Secondly, don't confuse this version of GarageBand with GarageBand for the Mac. Even though they share the same name and have some similarities, they are completely separate and different apps. You can export your songs from the iPad version and continue working with them on the Mac, and I'll be showing you how to do that later in this course. But if you're looking for instruction for GarageBand on the Mac, you'll find other courses for that version by browsing our library. And lastly, even though GarageBand is also designed for the iPhone and iPod Touch, and works great on those devices, we're going to be focusing entirely on using GarageBand on the iPad in this course. The iPad's larger screen just makes it the best iOS device for taking advantage of everything GarageBand has to offer. You can still follow along with this training if you're using GarageBand on an iPhone or iPod Touch, but just be aware that certain features I cover might be missing or moved around to different locations on the smaller devices. So, with these points in mind, let's move on.
