Planning the process
- Something you will find happens everywhere inside of the modeling world is when you walk up to an engineer and ask them how to design a product. After thinking for a while, the senior engineer will talk at length about the steps they would take to create the object using a series of loft profiles, extrusions, and rounding operations. You walk away thinking that you know how to design that product. Well, that engineer goes on vacation, and you forgot a couple of things that engineer said. Not having your original resource available to you, you walk down the hall to another engineer's cubicle and ask her what the correct way of designing that product would be. Also being a senior engineer, she knows exactly how to design it, with a series of surfacing operations to create the outside shell, followed by thickening, followed by several iterations of tools being drawn down a path to cut the end form into the thickened surfaces.
