- Data engineers are focused on managing and preparing data for use and analytics. This work includes collecting data, making sure it's correct, changing it to be useful for analysis, and sorting it in an organized way. Data engineers make sure that data moves smoothly from where it comes from to where data analysts use it. It's an important role for analytics teams because good analysis depends on having good quality data.
