Installing Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL)
- [Instructor] Let's learn how to install Docker without Docker Desktop on Windows. If you're following along on a computer with Windows 10 Build 1904 or later, your installation of Windows already has the ability to run Linux inside of it. This feature is enabled by the Windows subsystem for Linux, a background service that is able to translate Linux system calls or syscalls into their appropriate Windows counterparts through a lightweight virtual machine. Turning this feature on and installing Linux with it couldn't be easier. Let's do it together. While I'll be using Windows 11, this process is very similar for Windows 10, as well. Begin by clicking on the Start button, then typing in Windows feature. You should see Turn Windows features on or off pop up in the menu. Click on it once it appears. Next, look for the features virtual machine platform and Windows subsystem for Linux. And when you find them, go ahead…
