- I saw a photo of a young child's response to a quiz question. It was a simple math problem. Bobby has four dimes, Amy has 30 pennies. Who has more money? In the United States, four dimes is 40 cents, 30 pennies is 30 cents, so it's Bobby and the child got it right. The follow-up question was how do you know? Show your thinking. The teacher was looking for simple calculations. Instead, the child drew a stick figure and above the head drew a thought bubble like you see in cartoons. In the thought bubble was the word Bobby. The child showed their thinking. It's a great answer. It's also a life-long insight for creating personal connections. Observe your thoughts, assess whether they're helping you or not and if not, choose better ones. Sometimes our thoughts work against us especially when we're under stress or nervous.
