Replacing image backgrounds

- [Instructor] Let's try out a second example. We'll be using Gener Fill to change, not just the image subject in the foreground, but also the background automatically. Now let's get started. I'm going to come in here. I'm going to look at this particular file. It's called Librarian_to_Chef, and it's in this project folder. I'll just go ahead and drag and drop this image in here to get started. Now, this is a librarian and she does an amazing job, I got to say, however, she has always dreamt of being a chef. So I would say let's grant her wish by using Firefly. So I'm going to go ahead and just make sure I have the Insert tool currently selected. And let's just quickly change your clothes a little bit. So make sure you have a brush that's large enough. I'm actually going to increase the brush size a little bit by pressing the right bracket key on the keyboard. I'm going to come in here, I'm going to start dragging, like so. I'm just going to make sure I cover this entire area. Let's do the outline of her body first, and then let's quickly fill in the part in the middle, just by brushing, brushing, brushing, brushing. There we go. Now, currently I do have a brush that is a bit blurry around the edges. So if you take a look at the brush options here, you can see that I do have a hardness of 50%. It comes out of the box like that. So these are the default settings. So what I do like to do is I like to decrease this value just a tiny bit. Let's say to 25-ish percent and I'll have a smaller brush size. I'm going to decrease the brush size, so I'm pressing the left bracket on the keyboard, just to kind of move into this little area here, just to do this, because this area should be manipulated as well. And let's do this area a bit. There we go. I think I'm kind of down with this. Now, let's click inside this prompt here, and I'm going to type in something very simple. I'll just type in chef and I'll hit Enter or Return to confirm. Now, what it's doing is it's going to interpret the prompt based on my selection of the image. And so, Firefly should now automatically detect the fact that we're trying to change the outfit of the subject. Now, this is one version, this is another version. This is a bit odd, I got to say. We've got this version. Hmm, let's keep going. Let's click the More option just to get a few more different versions going. Now, if I don't get the version or the result I'm looking for now, I'll just quickly go back and just quickly alter that prompt a little bit here. Now, this is not too bad, but it's not really reminding me of a chef's outfit. You know what? Let's just quickly hit the Cancel option. Let's type in chef's outfit and then hit Enter or Return. Let's be a bit more specific. Now, I did previous tests where just typing in chef did did a really good job. However, now I'll just come in and be a bit more specific. Ah, now this is what I'm looking for. This is good. This is actually not too bad. I'm going to go for the first one. Let's try and use this one instead. I'll just go ahead and click the Keep option. And this is our first manipulation. Now, I also need to change the background because who needs a chef when you're working in a library, right? So where does a chef live and work? Well, let's just hope not live. It's in the kitchen. So let's quickly go ahead and try and select his background. And to do that, simply click this option that says Select background. Now, this is going to use something similar like the select subject technology that you might be familiar with in Photoshop. And because we have manipulated the outfit before, it is now basing itself on these outlines as well. And now it's a matter of just typing in the prompt for the replacement background, which should be a kitchen. Just type in the word kitchen and I'll choose Generate to generate a kitchen area for this particular subject. Let's give this a couple of seconds and see what Firefly can give us. Okay, this is pretty good-looking. I'm loving the greens on the left-hand side here. This is another version. This is okay, but this is a bit weird in the background, I have to say. This is also not too bad. You know what? I'm going to click the More option just once more because I do want to have six choices to choose from and not just three. Okay, more kitchens. Again, not bad. Not bad. Actually, I'm going to go for the very first one. So I'm going to go in here and click the Left option, just to cycle through these other results here, until I land with this version here. Now, keep in mind that you also have this ellipsis icon, and when you click that, you can actually also report how much you loved or hated this specific result. For now, I'm actually quite satisfied. I'm just going to go ahead and click the Keep option. And now, we've done it. We have changed this person outfit, we've changed the background, and I think we've also changed her career altogether.
