Slice to MIDI
- [Instructor] Ableton Live includes several innovative but often overlooked features. Let's take a look at Slice to New MIDI Track, which will slice an audio loop at the transients or at a user defined rhythmic interval, then load the slices into a sample player and allow you to trigger the individual slices from a MIDI keyboard. And I'll start by mentioning that the Slice to New MIDI Track feature is only available in the Suite and Standard versions of Live, and not in the intro version. Now I've grabbed a loop out of the library and I've dropped it on this one track that we see in this set. And if we look down in the clip overview area we can see that, in fact, it is an audio clip. So before we use the Slice to New MIDI Track feature, you want to make sure that you've taken a careful look at your audio clip to make sure that aren't any missing transient markers or extra transient markers where there shouldn't be any.
