Provide strategic financial leadership for the development, implementation, and management of the company's financial management policies and systems, ensuring effective liquidity management, capital fundraising (operating and financial leverage), and investor relations. Manage financial risks, oversee capital structure, and act as a primary point of communication for financial matters both internally and externally.
What You'll Do In This Role
Develop and execute strategies for the management of the company’s balance sheet and sources of capital/funding.
Identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks associated with capital management.
Craft and effectively manage the company’s financial “story” for both internal and external stakeholders.
Establish and manage an investor relations function, focusing on fixed income updates and representation at industry conferences.
Maintain open lines of communication with investors to foster strong partnerships.
Manage relationships with rating agencies, ensuring the maintenance of high credit ratings, particularly targeting A+ ratings.
Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders within and outside the organization, including senior staff, the board of directors and Sammons Enterprises, Inc. (SEI).
Oversee all forms of Funding Agreement programs such as Funding Agreement-Backed Notes and Funding Agreement-Backed Repo. Monitor the market for other innovative funding agreement solutions.
Manage the company’s Debt and Capital Markets Program, ensuring optimal capital structure and financial health. Monitor the market for other innovative capital solutions.
Act as a representative of the company to internal stakeholders, providing financial insight to senior staff, SEI, and the board.
Build and nurture relationships with investment banking partners.
Collaborate with the Asset Liability Management (ALM) team to support effective liquidity management and accurate cash forecasting.
Engage actively in Liquidity, Corporate Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), and Investment ALM committees, contributing to strategic decision-making.
Collaborate with the investment management team within Sammons Financial Group Asset Management to manage spread lending programs, including securities lending and Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB).
Facilitate multi-team efforts across capital, investment management, and corporate development to structure both financial and non-financial reinsurance transactions.
Drive and reinforce commitment to internal controls processes such as those under Model Audit Rule (MAR) and Record Information Management (RIM).

What We're Looking For
Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting Preferred
Master's Degree Business Administration Preferred
Minimum 15 years' experience in the life insurance industry Preferred
Minimum 15 years' leadership experience at a corporate or operating unit level Preferred
Extensive experience in developing and implementing planning, reporting and forecasting process and methodologies Preferred
Experience/familiarity with financial management of insurance companies Preferred
In depth understanding of life insurance operations and functions
Proven financial planning experience in a complex financial services environment
Strong talent attraction, development and leadership experience
Strong negotiation and partnership skills, across all levels of management, with ability to influence and challenge decisions and processes
