The Vice President, Finance & Operations will lead financial operations for Sony Music Vision’s Film & TV division, supporting all record label finance teams. This strategic role will oversee deal analysis, strategic planning, financial planning, accounting, and reporting, ensuring operational excellence and compliance while driving business growth. Reporting directly to President of Sony Music Vision, the VP will be a key partner in guiding financial strategy and decision-making across the division.
What you'll do:
Content Strategy & Analysis
- Lead deal analysis for Film & TV, including greenlighting, financial modeling, and evaluating new business opportunities.
- Prepare ultimate P&Ls for film acquisitions, financing, and production.
- Conduct financial research and analysis within the industry to support strategic initiatives.
- Oversee financial planning, including annual budgets, monthly reporting, quarterly reforecasting, and long-term strategic planning.
- Develop and implement FP&A processes, forecasting models, and budgeting frameworks.
- Analyze budget-to-actual variances and key financial KPIs, providing actionable insights to senior leadership.
- Prepare presentations on financial performance, key metrics, risks, and opportunities for senior executive meetings.
- Collaborate with label business unit finance teams to align forecasting with financial statements for accuracy and consistency.
- Manage all accounting functions, including financial reporting, revenue recognition, and monthly close processes, in coordination with shared services & record label finance teams.
- Approve and oversee Film & TV managed expenses, including travel & entertainment (T&E) and timesheet.
- Partner with Central FP&A and Accounting to ensure robust financial controls, reporting processes, and visibility.
- Maintain accurate bookkeeping and a well-organized general ledger.
- Implement internal controls and compliance measures to uphold financial integrity.
- Liaise with Royalty and Joint Venture Accounting teams to review, approve, and ensure timely rendering of statements to artists, producers, and other third parties.
- Partner with Royalty, Joint Venture Accounting, and Label Finance teams to ensure accuracy and completeness of participations and residuals liability balances.
- Support talent audits and litigation as needed.
- Partner with Production Operations, Sales & Distribution, Business & Legal Affairs, People Experience, and SME Record Labels to optimize financial operations globally.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, market developments, and emerging technologies to inform strategic financial decisions and drive innovation within the organization.
- Drive automation and process improvements in financial operations, including closing processes and internal controls.
- Build and mentor an analyst or finance/accounting team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting or related field; MBA or CPA preferred
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive Finance and Accounting experience with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the entertainment, media, or music industry.
- Seasoned experience working in a start up and/or small company environment is strongly preferred.
- Expertise in financial modeling, forecasting, and data-driven decision-making.
- Proven leadership in FP&A, accounting, and strategic financial management.
- Strong understanding of film and TV deal structures, participations, and residuals.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with various teams and senior executives.
- Reporting experience into a CEO or President of a company is ideal.
- Must be agile, adaptable and resourceful.

The anticipated annual base salary does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
