Celebrating our 100th Anniversary in 2026, the Better Business Bureau of Chicago & Northern Illinois (BBB) is a leading organization dedicated to advancing marketplace trust. As a nonprofit, independent organization, we are committed to fostering a fair and ethical marketplace where businesses and consumers can trust each other. plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning of various customer-facing departments, as well as overseeing technology, compliance, marketplace solutions, and accreditation standards review for incoming or current businesses

As an Intern, you will gain hands-on experience across a variety of departments, providing critical support to ensure the smooth functioning of the organization. You will be involved in a wide range of tasks, from assisting with marketing campaigns and supporting operational activities to enhancing customer retention strategies and contributing to sales initiatives. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to assist in the planning and execution of events, as well as engaging in public relations and media outreach efforts. This role will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the diverse functions within a company, preparing you for a dynamic and rewarding career in operations and beyond.

Responsibilities

The duties of the BBB Intern include, but are not limited to:

Supporting Day-to-Day Operations: Assist in managing the day-to-day activities of the Operations Department, including administrative tasks, scheduling, and coordination.

Office Management/Support: Help maintain a productive and organized office environment by handling incoming inquiries, managing supplies, and ensuring office equipment is functioning properly.

Professional Development: Engage in professional development opportunities provided by the BBB, including training sessions, workshops, and networking events.

Event and Project Support: Assist in supporting company events, projects, and initiatives aimed at promoting the BBB's mission and services. (example: golf event)

Hybrid Schedule: Participate in a hybrid work schedule, combining remote work and in-office presence as needed, to accommodate both individual and team needs

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for the Business Development Representative role embodies the following qualities:

  • Soon to be graduates actively pursuing a four - year degree at an accredited educational institution required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently - and in a team environment.
  • Reliability with meeting deadlines.

  • A positive attitude, can-do spirit, and a strong work ethic.
