The Staff R&D Technician under general supervision assists in product development by building prototypes (catheters and implants), testing, supporting animal studies, troubleshooting, and documenting new designs and processes.
Responsibilities:
Lead fabrication of prototypes, manufacturing processes, and fixtures from verbal instructions and/or simple drawings.
Build prototypes under minimal supervision for bench testing and animal studies.
Set up and conduct tests of completed units or components under operational conditions to investigate designs or to obtain data for development and standardization.
Assist with the development and improvement of new and existing test protocols.
Record and analyze test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data.
Assemble, install, adjust, test, and operate laboratory equipment and Instruments.
Aid engineering in equipment and tooling development.
Maintain a lab notebook and initiate Document Change Orders.
Train or mentor fellow R&D Technicians or Associate Engineers.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Associates degree with minimum of eight (8) years relevant work experience OR minimum fifteen (15) years of relevant work experience without degree.
Experience completing medical product(s) design verification and/or design transfer
Design and prototype, or have fabricated outside, simple tooling and fixtures.
Knowledge of good laboratory and documentation practices.
Knowledge of materials and suppliers.
Good written and oral communication skills.
Computer skills including Excel and Word.
Use of CAD, preferably SolidWorks.
