Collins Aerospace has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Structural Engineer to support its Advance Structures organization. This position will sit at our Aguadilla, PR location. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered.
This role is categorized as hybrid, with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote following the schedule assigned by the Manager.
What YOU will do:
Perform structural analysis of conventional & additively manufactured complex aerospace components including static, dynamic, thermal (steady state & transient), fatigue life, fracture mechanics (residual life) predictions and damage tolerance analyses.
Provide documentation of analysis results and recommendations in the form of formal reports and presentations for management and customers.
Assist in creating test plans and support validation and verification testing of components for thermal and dynamic performance and behavior. Use this information to calibrate and improve the analytical methods.
Participate in cross-discipline integrated product team as structures focal to provide design recommendations and solutions to develop products that meet technical, weight and cost targets.
Continuously pursue ways to develop, improve, and validate analytical methods and processes to improve productivity and cost effectiveness.
Support Change Requests (CRs) by preparing detailed reports and executing key activities in support to the Design team.
Support the development and automation of status reports by the implementation of Visual Basic Applications (VBA) tools.
Mentor junior engineers along the development cycle of a product.

Qualifications you must have:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience
Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Qualifications We Prefer:
Advanced education in Mechanical Engineering
Experience using CAT and CAM tools (NX CAD/CAM or Catia CAD/CAM).
Experience using FEA tools; ANSYS (APDL or Workbench), LSDYNA, ABAQUS, PATRAN / NASTRAN
Strong background in failure modes (Strength, Fatigue, Buckling, Creep, etc)
Experience with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per ANSI Y14.5
Knowledge of Tolerance Stack-up calculation, Weight Analysis, etc.
Displays experience with computer software languages such as C++, Phyton, MATLAB, VBA.
Experience in aerospace components (Wheels, Brakes, Landing Gears, etc.)
Experience in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI/ML)
