CINC Systems is seeking a Senior AWS Cloud Engineer to join our team. This role will be responsible for supporting and configuring all aspects of our AWS cloud environment, including network infrastructure, identity management, data, monitoring, alerting, and DevOps functionality. The position will also establish a forward-thinking strategy for new and innovative cloud opportunities, providing consultative direction and leading the adoption of new cloud technologies. The ideal candidate should possess excellent analytical skills, a logical approach to problem-solving, and the ability to liaise with various stakeholders to understand complex requirements. They should be a team player who can work well both within and across teams, operate independently, take initiatives, and consistently deliver high-quality work in a deadline-driven environment.
Responsibilities
AWS Cloud Engineering and Design
Lead the security, networking, governance, and automation of CINC’s AWS architecture.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship.
Collaborate with the team on AWS cloud design patterns, with a focus on AWS Control Tower expertise.
Contribute to a culture of best practices and knowledge sharing within the cloud practice, emphasizing the use of AWS Landing Zones and centralized management for consistent governance.
Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
Conduct short-term and long-term network architecture planning to meet current and expanding business requirements.
Drive transparency across the enterprise through regular collaboration with cloud stakeholders and senior leadership.
AWS Cloud Platform Implementation
Specify, architect, and design products with excellent operational characteristics.
Design, engineer, and deliver an advanced hybrid cloud platform using AWS services such as Amazon VPC, Amazon EKS, and AWS Fargate.
Embrace an automation-first approach, utilizing AWS-native, CDK, and scripting infrastructure-as-code technologies to ensure centralized control and governance over deployment processes.
Maintain and build scripts to manage the cloud infrastructure and server instances.
Solution Quality and Security
Ensure the delivery of high-quality AWS cloud solutions, prioritizing security, instrumentation, and extensibility specific to AWS.
Uphold AWS-specific standards and well-architected best practices for design, engineering changes, cost optimization, and configuration management.
Work closely with InfoSec to define secure baselines in AWS, designing and implementing secure network solutions that meet business requirements.
Infrastructure and Operations
Provide integration with corporate infrastructure and shared AWS cloud infrastructure services.
Maintain and monitor cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, MS Azure, Office 365).
Engineer and continually enhance AWS-specific infrastructure stacks, templates, images, and other artifacts.
Troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide advanced operational support to internal CINC customers in AWS.
Help automate and streamline operations and processes.
Perform infrastructure upgrades and updates to maximize system efficiency while minimizing downtime.
Administer and optimize all existing cloud-based daily IT operations, ensuring a secure and reliable environment for internal and external customers.
Maintain, test, and implement disaster recovery procedures.
Implement and maintain comprehensive monitoring of the environment and partner with respective teams for effective automated alerting. Establish anomaly parameters and oversee the response and repair of alerts.
Identify, analyze, and resolve infrastructure and application deployment challenges.
Service Design, Automation, and Deployment
Translate service requirements into AWS-specific service models (templates) and workflows for automatic provisioning.
Implement and automate AWS-specific security controls, governance processes, and compliance validation.
Control Frameworks and Compliance
Implement and maintain control frameworks, such as SOC 2 Type 2, to ensure the highest level of security and compliance in AWS cloud solutions.
Collaborate with the compliance team to ensure AWS cloud services meet regulatory requirements.
Conduct short-term and long-term network architecture planning to meet current and expanding business requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a technical major such as engineering, computer science, etc.
At least 8+ years of experience as an AWS Engineer, including architecture, governance, and compliance.
Experience supporting medium to large enterprise networks; data center management; cloud infrastructure management; networking tools and protocols; understanding of network security; and a desire to stay current with new technology solutions.
Experience with architecting, implementing, and maintaining highly available mission-critical environments for 24×7 availability.
Proficiency in load balancing and automation with good scripting skills.
Expertise in AWS configuration, AWS Security Hub, AWS Well-Architected frameworks, AWS Control Tower, and Landing Zone.
Experience with enterprise-level network infrastructure, including design, engineering, firewalls, and servers.
History of performing hands-on work to solve complex technical problems.
Self-motivated, curious, and collaborative, with a passion for learning new technologies and developing new skills.
Detail-oriented, organized, and able to multi-task.
Experience with cloud governance, IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, DevSecOps, containers, etc.
Understanding of containerization principles and frameworks (Kubernetes, Docker).
Experience designing and testing disaster recovery and high availability solutions.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively across organizational boundaries and within groups.
Advanced understanding of network/VPC design and security principles.
Ability to identify opportunities for performance and cost improvements within an AWS environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Pro-level certification in AWS (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect).
Experience developing, enhancing, and maintaining established enterprise cloud governance standards with an emphasis on security fortification.
Experienced in designing and implementing high availability and disaster recovery solutions, ITSM processes (e.g., Change Management, Incident Management, Problem Management, Configuration Management).
Experience securing systems to one or more compliance standards.
Experience using cloud automation tools, such as CloudFormation and Terraform.
Experience with DevOps and CI/CD automated build and deploy processes for complex infrastructures and services.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to develop effective technical support documentation.
Proficiency with Active Directory, Office 365 suite, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online.
Excellent knowledge of current computing trends and technologies.
Strong grasp of at least one relational database system, such as Microsoft SQL Server.
