A supermarket chain is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our growing finance team. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting functions, preparing financial reports, ensuring compliance with company policies and GAAP, and supporting the Controller in all aspects of accounting operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively with the finance team.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
General Ledger Management: Oversee and maintain general ledger entries, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial adjustments.
Month-End and Year-End Close: Lead the month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial results.
Accounts Payable and Receivable: Supervise accounts payable and receivable activities, ensuring that all invoices, payments, and collections are processed in a timely manner.
Tax Compliance and Reporting: Assist with the preparation of tax returns and ensure the timely submission of tax filings, including sales tax, income tax, and other regulatory filings.
Internal Controls and Audit Support: Implement and maintain effective internal controls, assisting in the preparation for internal and external audits.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with the Controller and management team on budgeting and forecasting processes.
Cash Flow Management: Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure that the company meets its financial obligations.
Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve accounting processes, systems, and reporting practices.
Ad hoc Projects: Assist the Controller with special projects and other duties as required.
Qualifications:
4-6 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on financial reporting and general ledger management.
Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar).
Strong understanding of GAAP, tax regulations, and financial reporting requirements.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, and complex formulas).
