Rehab Manager Requirements:
Current license to practice Physical Therapy in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey
Current driver’s license.
Rehab Manager Skills and Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in health care setting
Home Health Care experience preferred
Knowledge of HomeCare HomeBase or PointCare preferred
Rehab Manager Responsibilities:
Interprets needs and program and accomplishments to the Director by preparing, transmitting and interpreting appropriate reports and other documentation as needed. This includes collection and interpretation of statistical data as may be necessary.
Provides both management and clinical leadership to the staff.
Provides clinical assistance to the staff with emergency backup services and situation assessments. Clarifies technical procedures and uses sound judgement and resourcefulness in decision-making
Assesses all physical/occupational/speech therapy referrals, screens referrals for appropriateness, and assigns all referrals for prompt therapist follow-up.
Monitors all therapists’ documentation (from evaluation through discharge summary) for quality, completeness, accuracy and timeliness; and provides on going supervision to therapist to promote optimum documentation standards.
Provides on-going supervision of therapy staff patient care to assure adherence to appropriate, current professional practice standards.
Participates in educational workshops and courses.
A minimum of monthly in person in-service meeting
Evaluates each physical/occupational/speech therapist at least annually in writing.
Conducts weekly meetings for all Agency rehabilitation therapists to distribute information and changes in policy, exchange information concerning professional practices, audit and utilization review findings, and develop joint planning for on-going program development and improvement.
Establishes continuing education in the form of organized in-services given by staff or contract therapists.
Provides orientation of newly-hired physical, occupational, speech therapists, including instruction in Agency organization, patient care policies, documentation requirements, and professional practices, as well as direct in-home evaluation, instruction, and supervision.
Participates in the planning and development of staff in-service educational programs, and acts as a technical resource to the Agency in the field of rehabilitation.
Establishes quality assurance through performance evaluation of staff and contract therapists through on-going review of documentation, and a systematic program of audit, program identification, and correction.
Interprets to the community the role of therapy in the Agency’s program.
Participates as per Agency policy in patient care conferences, Professional Advisory Committee, utilization Review committee, department meetings and as a member of other conferences, meetings and committees as requested.
Operation of an automobile; ability to enter and exit and automobile, for on-site supervision. Demonstrates ability to interact with a mixed patient population, extensive standing, walking, lifting, crouching, stooping, reaching, kneeling, and stair climbing.
Showing an understanding of and respect for individual contributions to the agency even if they are different than their own. Having the ability to elicit cooperation and action in a tactful manner. Exploring opportunities to assist other supervisors and co-workers. Seeking out the advice and expertise of others to resolve problems or achieve goals. Using objectivity when supporting ideas and opinions in order to do what is best for the Agency, not just one particular group or individual.
