Key Responsibilities
Responsible for overseeing all aspects of operations, including lumber supply, production, and deliveries. The Plant Manager is responsible for all aspects of the facility, leading the entire operational team on-site, ensuring an efficient and effective operation in delivering quality products to our customers and maintaining security and operability of all assets at the site.
Requirements
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations & Production Oversight
Manage all aspects of facility operations, including production, shipping/receiving, maintenance, and inventory control
Monitor and optimize throughput, cost control, waste reduction, and maintenance efficiency
Maintain ERP system integrity and ensure company assets are managed effectively
Ensure equipment and facilities are in good working condition by managing local suppliers and maintenance services
Safety & Compliance
Lead a safety-driven culture at all operational levels, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations
Promote adherence to best practices, effective housekeeping, and continuous safety improvements
Act as the company's representative for local regulatory and compliance matters
Financial & Strategic Management
Oversee facility profit and loss, managing budgets and ensuring financial controls are met
Implement strategic planning, including business, marketing, and capital planning processes
Develop and execute pricing strategies aligned with market conditions and company goals
Sales & Customer Relations
Support local sales efforts and collaborate with the sales team to set and achieve facility sales targets
Identify and target key market segments to drive business growth
Respond to customer inquiries, ensuring high levels of service and satisfaction
Leadership & Team Development
Supervise staffing, training, and professional development initiatives
Foster a high-performance culture centered on respect, accountability, and continuous improvement
Provide hands-on leadership, setting a positive example within the operation
Continuous Improvement & Performance Metrics
Implement lean manufacturing principles to enhance efficiency and quality
Develop and track key performance metrics, including inventory levels, production schedules, and order fulfillment
Create and manage daily production schedules to meet company expectations
Establish training materials and ensure all employees are properly trained in equipment operation and safety protocols
Additional Responsibilities
Contribute to business growth strategies and process improvements
Assist in hiring employees and conduct annual performance evaluations

Qualification, Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a technical or business-related field
Minimum of 7 years of experience in production or manufacturing environment
Background in lumber remanufacturing, wood working and or similar field preferred
Working knowledge of lean six sigma methodologies and experience in leading change
Analytical thinker with a strong basis on data gathering and analysis
Energetic, organized and ability to manage a wide range of projects and priorities
Excellent communicator and understanding of importance to ‘do what you say'
Familiarity of ERP systems and methods of scheduling, inventory and shipping
Strong computer skills with experience in the Microsoft Office suite
WORK ENVIRONMENT & ATTRIBUTES
Lumber remanufacturing facility with cutting and assembly equipment
Indoor office area with outdoor production and lumber yard management
Hearing protection, eyewear and steel-toed shoes required
Initial travel expected, including participation in training and possible customer visits
