Position Overview
This is a corporate development M&A Associate position that will support the growth strategy by identifying and evaluating acquisition targets, performing financial analyses, managing due diligence, and collaborating with internal and external teams throughout the entire deal lifecycle. This role requires strong analytical skills, effective communication, and a solid understanding of corporate finance and valuation methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
Deal Sourcing and Evaluation
- Conduct market and industry research to identify prospective acquisition targets.
- Collaborate with senior management to assess strategic fit and align potential opportunities with the company’s growth objectives.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key industry players, investment bankers, and financial advisers.
Financial Analysis and Valuation
- Build and update detailed financial models to evaluate potential transactions (valuation, synergy estimates, etc.).
- Perform comprehensive valuation analyses, including discounted cash flow (DCF), comparable company, and precedent transaction methods.
- Summarize findings and present recommendations to senior leadership.
Due Diligence
- Organize and track the due diligence process, coordinating with cross-functional teams (legal, finance, HR, operations, tax).
- Identify potential transaction risks or synergies by examining company historical performance, market data, and regulatory considerations.
- Analyze and synthesize large amounts of qualitative and quantitative data to help drive informed investment decisions.
Transaction Execution
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders (legal counsel, auditors, consultants) to structure deal terms and finalize documentation.
- Prepare investment memoranda and other transaction-related materials for review by executive leadership and board members.
- Support negotiations by providing data-driven insights, articulating valuation assumptions, and assisting with scenario planning.
Integration Planning and Support
- Collaborate with integration teams to ensure effective onboarding of new acquisitions, including operational, cultural, and financial integration.
- Provide ongoing support post-deal to monitor performance against projected targets and recommend corrective action if necessary.
Reporting and Stakeholder Management
- Develop clear, concise presentations and reports for senior leaders, the Board of Directors, and various committees.
- Communicate status updates, findings, and potential risks to stakeholders and relevant committees.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field (MBA or CFA designation preferred).
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in M&A, investment banking, private equity, or corporate development.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in financial modeling, valuation techniques, and Excel-based analytics.
- Familiarity with transaction structures, term sheets, and legal documentation.
- Experience with databases such as Capital IQ, PitchBook, or Bloomberg is a plus.
- Analytical Thinking: Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication; able to convey complex financial concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
- Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment, coordinating multiple workstreams and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Organizational Skills: Proven track record of successfully managing projects under tight deadlines and changing priorities.
