Position Summary

We are currently looking to add to our team in Chicago. The Manufacturing Engineer will work in a cross-functional team utilizing manufacturing principles to identify opportunities to implement changes to improve manufacturing processes. They will have direct influence on the implementation of new products, and the improvement of existing processes. They will analyze space requirements, process flow, and equipment layout to maximize efficiency. The individual shall have strong organizational skills, as well as oral and written communication.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITES

  • Increase manufacturing efficiency by evaluating process flow, equipment layout, and space requirements.
  • Utilize analytical approaches to achieve best quality, costs, and lead times.
  • Strategize and implement tooling and fixtures as required throughout the production areas.
  • Participate in discussions to justify capital expenditures on equipment.
  • Stay up to date on daily production activities and identify areas to continuously improve manufacturing.
  • Assist production in coordinating large projects to ensure parts availability, layout, and space are sufficient to meet the demand of the customer.
  • Analyze the current state of manufacturing and organize proposals for the future state and the expected benefits.
  • Recognize problems and the ability to come up with solutions.
  • Work with purchasing and the warehouse to develop inventory control systems.
  • Ability to create layouts in AutoCAD.
  • Work with design engineering on new product development and translating the requirements of the project to manufacturing.
  • Provide training to production for new products and equipment.
  • Create work instructions to improve quality and training.
  • Responsible for leading cost saving efforts in manufacturing.
  • Ability to communicate thoroughly and follow up on projects.
  • Respond with good judgement and sensitivity to inquiries from employees, customers, and outside agencies/organizations.
  • Perform all work within the guidelines of the company’s policies and procedures.
  • Comply with company health and safety standards and take a proactive approach to keeping the workspace safe.
  • Duties and responsibilities may be added, removed, or changed at any time at the discretion of management.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • Proficient experience in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawing packages and BOM’s.
  • Familiar with drawing in AutoCAD or equivalent drafting program.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of CNC machining.
  • Experience in sheet metal manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in HVACR Industry

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technology is preferred, however, relevant experience in manufacturing will be considered.
  • 2+ years of experience.
