Intern: Construction Engineer

CKL is currently seeking enthusiastic students with an interest in civil engineering who would like the opportunity to grow their skills in the field.

CKL is a multi-disciplinary professional services firm headquartered in Chicago, Illinois with offices in Atlanta, Georgia and Orlando, Florida. We provide engineering and construction management services to a variety of public and private clients. CKL is looking for talented leaders to build upon our strengths and grow locally, regionally, and nationally.

Expectation And Responsibilities

On a daily basis, interns will...

• Perform detailed measurements, notes and pictures of the proposed transit construction locations/sites
• Obtain accurate distances and necessary field data using a measuring wheel, range finder, pole stick or other outside plant engineering tools
• Review contract drawings, specifications and shop drawings to ensure proper coordination and installation
• Adhere to safety guidelines set forth by CKL Engineers
• Attend onsite meetings as directed by CKL Engineers
• Attend training sessions to maintain and build upon skill, knowledge and performance levels
• Assist with the preparation of Daily Construction Reports (DCRs) and Inspector Daily Reports (IDRs)
• Assist in the maintenance of contract documents and electronic web-based documents for field operations
• Assist all employees in all areas of the project assigned
  
  
  

There may be an opportunity to perform other civil engineering design such as transportation, environmental, and structural engineering if the candidate is interested.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Live in or around the Chicagoland area
• Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering or related Undergraduate program.
• Proficiency with MS Excel, MS Word and Primavera P6, AutoCAD is a plus
• 3.0 GPA or better required
