Title: Director of Accounting

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

Our client, a prominent media company based in Chicago, is seeking a Director of Accounting to join their corporate finance team. This role will be responsible for overseeing the General Ledger, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and implementing internal controls. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, extensive experience in ERP applications, and the ability to work independently in a collaborative environment.

Focus:

• Lead financial reporting processes, including month/quarter/year-end closings and reconciliations.
• Manage revenue recording procedures and ensure accuracy in financial statements.
• Conduct analysis of financial data and provide insights to support decision-making.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to facilitate budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Monitor transactions and implement internal controls to ensure compliance with accounting standards.
• Evaluate and optimize accounting processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
• Stay updated on regulatory changes and industry trends to ensure compliance and best practices.
• Oversee complex multi-entity accounting operations, ensuring proper consolidation and consistent application of policies across all entities.
• Manage cost-coding for media call numbers and related expenses, maintaining precision and alignment with project budgets.
• Apply keen attention to detail across all accounting functions to uphold data integrity and prevent discrepancies.

Skill Set:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA highly preferred.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., MS-Dynamics, Acumatica) and advanced Excel skills.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small team environment.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Experience in the media industry is advantageous but not required.
