Controller – Premier Construction Company

Location: Chicago, IL

Compensation: $165K - $185K + Benefits

We are partnered with a well-established general contractor with nationwide experience, specializing in commercial and mixed-use residential projects. Clients include major retailers and private developers across industrial and institutional sectors. With deep knowledge of municipal requirements and a strong track record of repeat business, the company prioritizes excellence, accountability, and community involvement.

For this role, we are seeking an experienced Controller to join their team in their Chicago office. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role is integral to their financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in accounting processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage a team of 5-6 project accountants, ensuring accurate financial reporting and job costing.
• Utilize SAGE Construction Software to track and manage financial data.
• Ensure timely monthly financial reporting by the 15th – 20th of the following month.
• Manage job costing and percentage of completion revenue recognition.
• Assist in the annual financial audit and compliance requirements.
• Prepare and file multi-state sales tax returns.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Salary: $165K - $185K, based on experience.
• Vacation: 2-3 weeks based on experience + 10 sick days.
• Health Insurance and 401K with a 50% match up to the tax limit.
• In-office role with occasional work-from-home opportunities.
