In partnership with our client, we are seeking an experienced Senior Accounting Leader or Operations Controller with expertise in construction accounting and ERP systems administration for a newly created position in Chicago. As a leader in the corporate accounting department, you will provide training, support, and guidance on all aspects of the internal accounting functions, policies, and procedures. Expected national travel for the position is estimated at 50%.
Responsibilities
Operate as business partner and resource for the Regional Controllers, to train and guide the accounting and operational staff.
Assists with M&A due diligence and initial training of new acquisitions.
Evaluate the performance of accounting and finance personnel within the region and recommend training and changes as needed.
Provide support and guidance on ERP integrations and systems.
Train on the in-house payroll process.
Ensures company’s delegation of authority and corporate policies are adhered to.
Provides corporate office with audit, tax, insurance, and other information as needed.
Ensures credit and collection procedures are followed, and monitors collections and payments.
Assumes other special activities and responsibilities from time to time as directed.
Assists the corporate accounting staff with daily duties and projects.
Provide support and training to end-users, including classroom and individual training sessions.
Collaborate with the IT team to align training with evolving system updates.
Requirements
Bachelors degree in Accounting.
10+ years of experience, with expertise in construction accounting, project accounting, or cost accounting
Experience in a multi-company/multi- location environment.
Understanding of in-house payroll and tax filing.
Exceptional MS Excel skills.
Strong knowledge of ERP software, preferably with systems implementation experience.
Ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with all levels of the organization.
Exceptional interpersonal skills.
