About The Role

Impact you will make

As a Data Engineer Intern on the AI/ML team, you will play a critical role in enhancing FinThrive’s data infrastructure to support advanced analytics and machine learning projects. Your efforts will facilitate the seamless acquisition and transformation of data, enabling our teams to drive innovations and make informed strategic decisions.

What You Will Do

  • Source data from OLTP databases tailored to specific project needs.
  • Coordinate with data owners to organize and retrieve raw data effectively.
  • Partner with relevant teams to design data schemas that align with project goals.
  • Transform and standardize raw data to fit the established schemas.
  • Implement and manage automated testing processes to maintain data quality and integrity.
  • Travel required: minimal, limited to a 4-day in-person orientation at FinThrive headquarters in Plano, TX.

What You Will Bring

  • Proficiency in Python and SQL, with the ability to handle complex data structures and queries.
  • Experience in data engineering tasks such as data modeling, extraction, and transformation.
  • Enthusiasm for working in a team environment and collaborating closely with internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, with the ability to manipulate complex datasets in Excel and present analytical findings effectively in PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

What We Would Like To See

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and big data tools, preferably Azure, PySpark, Spark, and Databricks.
  • Knowledge of operating systems like Linux and technologies such as Hadoop, Terraform, and DevOps practices.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as PowerBI, which would be beneficial in translating data insights into visual stories.
  • A strong inclination towards data science and machine learning, with an eagerness to apply these skills in real-world scenarios.
