The strategy is principally focused on investing in various segments of specialty finance, equipment leasing, asset-based financing and real estate.
Summary of the Position:
We are seeking an associate level colleague to join our investment team in New York City.
This employee will be responsible for evaluating various types of investments in specialty finance platforms (commercial and consumer non-bank lenders, equipment lessors, and equipment rental companies), which can include equity and debt investments across various parts of the capital structure. The employee will also work on various portfolio management functions of the current portfolio. As a lean organization where employees are expected to thrive with autonomy over their work, there will be constant exposure to senior executives and the investment / asset management decision making process.
Key Responsibilities:
Underwrite acquisition, private debt, and other investment opportunities
Analyze financial models, build in sensitivity analysis, and opine on management projections / assumptions
Prepare proposals for potential investment targets and assist in structuring / negotiating transactions (terms, covenants, security arrangements, etc.)
Prepare and present investment committee materials to the ICP investment committee
Liaise with third party advisors including legal counsel, tax advisors, lenders, etc.
Work on multiple projects simultaneously, managing time and resources to ensure work is completed efficiently within established timeframes
Support portfolio management for new and existing investments, including participating in board level meetings and discussions
Skills & Qualifications:
2 - 5 years of experience in investment banking, private debt, or private equity is required
Strong analytical abilities and in-depth knowledge of finance and financial statement analysis
Effective written and oral communication skills
Strong proficiency in Excel, financial modeling, and investment committee material preparation within Microsoft Word
Knowledge of capital markets / private debt and investment structuring
The ability to work effectively with both peers and senior executives in a highly entrepreneurial, team-oriented environment
Prior experience focused on the specialty finance industry is a plus, but not a requirement
