Job Title: Assistant General Manager – Fine Dining

Job Type: Full-Time

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant General Manager to support the overall operation of our fine dining restaurant. This individual will assist the General Manager in ensuring that the restaurant delivers an outstanding dining experience while maintaining operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, extensive experience in inventory control and cost management, and a passion for exceptional service. Previous experience in fine dining is essential, and a sommelier certification is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Support: Assist the General Manager in overseeing daily restaurant operations, ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently, from guest service to kitchen coordination.
  • Leadership & Staff Management: Supervise, train, and develop front-of-house staff, ensuring they adhere to the restaurant’s high service standards and maintain professionalism.
  • Inventory & Cost Control: Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and work closely with the kitchen and bar teams to manage food and beverage costs. Implement cost-saving strategies without compromising quality or guest experience.
  • Guest Relations: Ensure guests receive exceptional service by addressing inquiries, complaints, and feedback in a timely and professional manner. Enhance guest satisfaction through personalized attention.
  • Sommelier Support: Assist with wine selection and pairings, offer wine service, and manage the restaurant’s wine inventory. A sommelier certification or deep knowledge of wine is preferred.
  • Financial Oversight: Help track and manage costs, labor, and other expenses, ensuring profitability while maintaining the highest standards of service.
  • Communication: Serve as a liaison between management, kitchen, and service staff to ensure clear communication and smooth operations. Foster a positive work environment through regular feedback and team meetings.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, and ensure the restaurant maintains a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
  • Event Coordination: Assist in planning and executing special events, private parties, and wine dinners, ensuring a seamless experience for all guests.
  • Customer Service Excellence: Ensure that the restaurant maintains a reputation for providing exceptional fine dining experiences with a focus on hospitality, presentation, and personalized service.


Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in restaurant management, with a minimum of 1 year in a fine dining environment.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire staff.
  • Strong experience in inventory control, cost management, and implementing cost-saving initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on guest relations and team collaboration.
  • Sommelier certification preferred or strong knowledge and passion for wine and beverage pairings.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • In-depth knowledge of fine dining service standards, culinary trends, and hospitality best practices.
  • Familiarity with restaurant management software, POS systems, and scheduling tools.
  • Flexible schedule with availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
