Assistant Controller


A leading Private Equity firm here in Chicago is looking to hire a newly created Assistant Controller to the team. The Assistant Controller will play a pivotal role in supporting the financial operations of our private equity funds. This includes assisting with fund accounting, financial reporting, cash management, investor reporting, and compliance with regulatory and tax requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, technical accounting skills, and a deep interest in private equity fund operations.


Responsibilities

Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for multiple funds in accordance with IFRS, US GAAP, or other applicable accounting standards.

Help prepare and review capital calls, distributions, and investor allocations.

Monitor and record investment activity including acquisitions, dispositions, and valuations.

Assist in the preparation of investor reports and communications, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of financial data.

Collaborate with senior team members on investor queries and information requests related to fund performance and financials.

Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed by senior management or investors.

Provide analytical support for investment-related matters and strategic decisions.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • CPA highly preferred
  • At least 7+ of experience in accounting, ideally in private equity or public accounting with PE clients.
  • Knowledge of private equity fund structures, investment types, and associated reporting requirements.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting standards (e.g., IFRS, US GAAP) and fund performance metrics.
  • Strong understanding of financial accounting principles and investment operations.
  • High attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy and timeliness.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
