Mattos Hospitality, an award-winning restaurant group based in NYC known for thoughtful, timeless dining experiences, is seeking an experienced, strategic Assistant Controller to support our financial operations.
The Assistant Controller will play a critical supporting role within the accounting and finance team of the Mattos Hospitality restaurant group. This position assists in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting internal controls across all locations. The Assistant Controller helps manage daily accounting operations, including financial reporting, budgeting, reconciliations, and supporting audits, while partnering with cross-functional teams to support operational efficiency and financial accuracy.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and collaborative, with a strong understanding of hospitality accounting functions such as inventory, cost control, and revenue tracking. This role is instrumental in ensuring timely and accurate reporting to support the Controller and executive leadership in financial decision-making and business planning.
Key Focus And Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements.
Support the annual budgeting and monthly forecasting processes by compiling data, preparing reports, and analyzing variances.
Maintain accurate general ledger records through reconciliations, journal entries, and analysis.
Support the implementation and monitoring of internal controls to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Collaborate with operations and department leaders to support budget adherence and financial clarity.
Assist with inventory tracking, cost of goods analysis, and revenue reconciliation across restaurant locations.
Help prepare documentation for audits and coordinate with external auditors as needed.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and help implement solutions to streamline financial workflows.
