An award-winning, eco-friendly beauty & cosmetics startup is searching for an Accounting Manager to lead the continued build-out and evolution of their accounting operation. The role will direct and oversee an outsourced accounting team while also driving various projects to enhance efficiency and automation across financial operations.
Founded by prominent figures in the beauty industry, this company has established a substantial following in the cosmetics world, quickly growing to over $30 million in revenue and expanding from e-commerce into wholesale with major partnerships with Sephora and Ulta.
The Accounting Manager will report directly to the VP of Finance with the goal of growing into a Controller role as the company continues to scale.
Location: Fully remote with a preference for NYC to be present for periodic on-site meetings with the leadership team
Responsibilities:
Report to the VP of Finance with full ownership over all aspects of accounting, reporting and financial operations for all sales channels and corporate activities.
Drive a timely monthly close process, financial consolidations, quarterly reviews and annual audits in accordance with U.S. GAAP
Prepare monthly operating budgets and support short and long-range forecasting activities
Develop and manage financial controls as the company scale through both organic and inorganic growth initiatives
Streamline financial operations with an emphasis on maximizing efficiency and timeliness of all close procedures and reporting requirements
Develop key accounting processes to support a rapidly growing company with an emphasis on delivering financial insights that will help drive informed executive decisions
Play a key role in the financial planning process; monitor and analyze operating results against plan and provide insights for potential improvements
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
4-8 years of progressive experience in accounting, ideally with exposure to a startup or emerging growth business
Experience in a consumer products company with a fundamental understanding of inventory-related accounting concepts
Exceptional leadership skills with a proven track record building and managing a strong team
Proficiency in Excel as well as NetSuite or another related ERP system
Salary: $120,000-$150,000 + Bonus
