Due to our incredible growth, we want to add a full-time experienced Accountant.


JOB DESCRIPTION:


GENERAL LEDGER

  • Prepare or assist in the preparation of reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts.
  • Record accrued expenses and maintain accrued expense schedule.
  • Record Payroll journal entries.
  • Record Payroll accruals.
  • Record BD and other revenue accruals.
  • Record interest income/expense accruals.
  • Identify and research anomalies in expense trends.
  • Ensure expenses are properly coded (accounts and departments).


SALES TAX AND RELATED

  • Reconcile sales tax transactions between Avalara and Sticky and record sales tax liabilities.
  • Convert all non-USD transactions to USD.
  • Prepare and upload sales tax transactions for non-US filings to Avalara.
  • Download UK transactions, populate the UK template, and upload to Avalara.
  • Convert all non-CAD transactions to CAD.
  • Populate the CAD upload template and upload it to Avalara.
  • Coordinate additional registrations with Avalara, as needed.
  • Resolve any sales tax notices received.


MONITOR MID-PERFORMANCE

  • Monitor chargeback rates.
  • Review and reconcile chargebacks from customers or clients.
  • Investigate discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
  • Work closely with the sales and customer service teams to address chargeback concerns and prevent future occurrences.
  • Maintain accurate records of chargeback transactions and related documentation.
  • Monitor alert services to ensure alerts are functioning as expected.
  • Monitor alert and chargeback costs and provide suggestions for cost efficiencies.
  • Handle applications and set up for new MIDs as needed, including getting MIDs set up with all appropriate services.
  • Regular chargeback, refund, and alert cost analysis and reporting.
  • Manage relationships with Merchant providers and alert and other service providers.


MERCHANT ACCOUNT RECONCILIATION

  • Validate collection of prior months in transit amounts.
  • Reconcile and record chargebacks and processing fees.
  • Identify end of month in transit amounts (sales clearing (receivable) balance.


MISCELLANEOUS

  • Prepare weekly flash report.
  • Assist with cash forecasting.
  • Prepare audit schedules and assist with annual audit.
  • Other tasks as identified by controller or VP of finance.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA certification preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance roles, with a focus on chargeback management and expense control.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with various accounting software programs; experience with transitioning between systems is advantageous.
  • Experience managing Avalara and sales tax issues, with a strong preference for experience with Avalara.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
