The Uranium Processing Facility (UPF) Project team completed initial energization of the Main Process Building (MPB), which is an important milestone as the project progresses with construction, testing and eventually operations. At 242,000 square feet, the MPB is UPF’s largest building and will support Y-12’s key missions. A team of over 2,000 craft professionals and professional staff are working to deliver the project and we thank them for their vital contributions to Y-12’s mission.

Seventeen Y-12ers contributed to #STEM education for students in East Tennessee by judging in the UT Southern Appalchain Science and Energy Fair (SASEF). Middle- and high-school students submitted projects across various disciplines, including engineering, natural sciences, and mathematics. Entries are solicited from 23 East Tennessee counties, with submissions opening in August 2024. This was the seventh year that Lindsey S. judged at SASEF. “The judging allows me to get out into the community and foster a love of science for the next generation,” he said. “SASEF has been the most rewarding volunteer opportunity I have ever been a part of.” #MyY12
