Xylem National Training Coordinator James Wendt and co-presenter Jim Miles, Vice President of Training, Safety & Loss Control, Association of Illinois Electric Cooperatives, drew a large crowd today for their in-depth session at the NRECA Safety Leadership Summit in Arlington, TX. They discussed critical safety considerations involved in tree removal near utility lines—especially during storm restoration. A powerful reminder of how expert training, awareness, communication, and coordination are essential to mitigate stored energy and prioritize safety. #CoopSafety #VegetationManagement #UtilitySafety #StormRestoration

Earlier this month, our team in Region 1 held a two-day Safety & Training rodeo in SC with approximately 100 attendees. This training followed a rotating station format covering topics such as lines under tension, chainsaw safety, chipper operations, and tree felling notches. We support a strong safety culture through continuous learning and repeated practice through mock situations that break down each step. This is how we create a safer future! #SafetyCulture #TrainingEvent #ChainsawSafety #Region1 #ContinuousLearning

This morning at ISA Southern Chapter's Annual Conference, our National Training Coordinator, James Wendt, delivered a powerful session on an important topic in our industry: Building a Fail-Safe Workplace: Safety, Training, and Human Performance. Guiding participants through the NIOSH Hierarchy of Controls, James explored how true safety is rooted not just in procedures or PPE, but in the way we design and train for the realities of human performance. It was a valuable reminder that resilient workplaces don’t expect perfection – they plan for human error. #HOP #Safety #VegetationManagement
