BX vs. CX: same thing, right? Not quite. While they’re connected, understanding the difference is what takes a brand from forgettable to fan-favorite. BX shapes how people feel about your brand, while CX defines how they interact with it. Want to build a brand people obsess over? You'll need to do both well. Earlier this week, our team ran a story about how everything’s bigger in Texas—including the experience economy. And listen, I love a big, splashy moment as much as the next person. But bigger isn’t always better. Especially when it’s crowded, complicated, and costs a small fortune. Case in point: I just flew out to Palm Springs for the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, and let me tell you — it was an absolute dream compared to the U.S. Open in my own backyard. No subway meltdowns, no NJ Transit chaos, no tickets that require a second mortgage, and no $75 for a lobster roll & an Aperol Spritz. (Instead, just a $37 rosé champers at Casa Dani!) What it did provide was a smooth, seamless experience that felt like a masterclass in UX. (Plus, the opportunity for a little bike ride in Palm Springs and jaunt out to Joshua Tree with my besties.) Tennis paradise, indeed. As we take this week to reflect on the post-COVID boom of live events (five years in 😢), I can’t help but wonder if we overcorrected. The pandemic reminded us what we missed — but did the pendulum swing too far in the other direction? Think: megawatt stadium tours, record-breaking sporting events, and a new immersive blah blah blahs launching seemingly every other day. Don’t get me wrong — I’m here for all of it. But I also think people are craving something more intentional. More intimate. More thoughtful. Like (shameless plug alert) XP Land's recent gathering at The Shed, where industry creatives and decision-makers actually had room to breathe and connect. Or Public School, creative studio's monthly artist spotlights, where the Atlanta creative community comes together in a real, meaningful way. Maybe the next big thing … isn’t big at all. Eggcellent video by Dibs Baer, cameos by Daniella Wells and Daria Linnington 😍

Austin has always been a magnet for creatives, but this year the city feels like it’s buzzing at an entirely new frequency: SXSW is in full swing. The skyline is stretching higher with new developments. Soho House & Co Austin, once an outlier among coastal members clubs, has become a second home for filmmakers, game developers and the architects of digital experiences. And the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix, now one of the biggest events on the global racing calendar, has cemented Austin as an international destination for high-performance entertainment. And it’s not just Austin. The state of Texas is emerging as a heavyweight in the experience economy, setting the stage for a future where immersive entertainment isn't just an experiment—it’s a way of life. Wondering what kinds of visionaries we’re looking for on the next XLIST? We're inspired by projects like Luna Luna: Forgotten Fantasy, the fantastic, experiential art exhibit brought back to life in LA and NYC by Michael Goldberg of Something Special and its original curator, artist André Heller, decades after its premiere in Hamburg in 1987. Whether you're a creative, a producer, or a thought leader in experiential, nominate yourself, a colleague or a collaborator today. #XPLand #XLIST #LunaLuna
