  • We are growing! Our newest member, Will Green, joined WSKF as a Project Designer this past month. He graduated from Drury University with his Master of Architecture degree. We asked Will what he’s up to when he’s off the clock—here’s what he had to say! I love my weekend walks to the River Market to get groceries. It’s so lovely and lively there. Saturdays are for groceries and produce, while Sundays are for getting a little treat. Outside of work, making pasta by hand is my favorite hobby. There’s nothing better than a pillowy cavarola dumpling (like gnocchi, but with ricotta instead of potato) with a creamy red sauce. If I’m not cooking, then I’m probably playing the guitar or piano. We are happy to have Will on the team. Please join us in congratulating him on his new role!

  • 🎾 Any tennis players out there? WSKF Architects has proudly provided on-call architectural services to the City of Raytown, MO, since 2020, including interior design and renovations at City Hall. Our work has been well received, leading to an extended contract in 2024! Recently, the Parks and Recreation Department tapped WSKF to restore and renovate the tennis courts at C. Lee Kenagy Park. This 18-acre park offers a variety of amenities, including a fishing pond, baseball and softball fields, a walking trail, and more. Excited to see these courts come back to life—go check them out! #Architecture #ParksAndRec #Tennis

  • Exciting milestone! John E. Freshnock, principal at WSKF Architects, joined the KCK Catholic community for the groundbreaking of the new St. Joseph House, located next to the Little Brothers of the Lamb Monastery. Archbishop Joseph F. Naumann, church leaders, and community members gathered to celebrate the beginning of construction. Designed by WSKF Architects, the 1,900-sq-ft guest house will welcome visitors to the community, with Archbishop Naumann as the first guest. We're honored to continue our work following the original monastery’s design. Keene Constructs is leading the build at 917 Homer. #Architecture #Community #Design #Groundbreaking #WSKFArchitects

  • The Academy Award nomination for “The Journey” in the Original Song category renewed public interest in the amazing story of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion. The World War II unit was the only all-female and all women of color unit sent overseas during the war. Their inspiring work was brought to the screen in Tyler Perry’s “The Six Triple Eight.” The 6888 cleared a massive backlog of mail for American troops in Europe. WSKF Architects led design of a monument at Ft. Leavenworth honoring the unit and their work. The monument is in the Buffalo Soldier Commemorative Area at the post. It was developed under the guidance of Carlton Philpot (U.S. Navy, Retired). Dedicated in November of 2018, the monument features the story of the Battalion’s service, the names of battalion members and a 25-inch bronze bust of its leader, Lt. Col. Charity Adams.

  • WSKF Architects is proud to partner with the City of Salina, KS and the Salina Fire Department on Station No. 4. Their newest station will feature 5 double-deep drive through bays with four-fold doors to increase turnout efficiency, a full bay exhaust system, and high-tech Decontamination Protocol upgrades. We can't wait to see this project come to life.
