We love sharing the work done at WOW with our community! During this year's Sea Turtle Center rehabilitation, Director of Animal Care Mike Daniel was able to visit local schools and share the stories of the 19 turtles staying here and why their rehab and release matters! He met with some incredible students, and we are so thankful for our community that cares about conservation education!

Last month I had the honor to be a presenter at the First-Day Ceremony for the United States Postal Service first day of sale for the five new Freshwater Fishing Lures commemorative forever stamps. What an amazing group of presenters who spoke about their passion for fishing and the outdoors.

Pit stop on the road home! 🐢 Our team that drove 17 hours to Jacksonville, Florida, took a small detour on the way home last week! They stopped at Georgia Sea Turtle Center to drop off our turtle boxes for our friends at New England Aquarium who are doing a release near there next week. We are so thankful for the team at Jekyll Island for the tour and to New England Aquarium for working with us every year to release sea turtles back into the wild!

Along the Atlantic shore of Jacksonville, Florida, 19 sea turtles were released back into their home ocean yesterday! Seven Kemp's ridleys and 12 loggerheads returned to the ocean, each a testament to the work done at the Sea Turtle Center here at Wonders of Wildlife in the name of conservation. These turtles were brought to the Midwest's only care center just before Christmas and have been in care since, with WOW's team helping them recover in order to return to the wild. Rehabilitating these turtles over the last several months has been an enormous effort from our veterinary technicians, animal care staff, and life support specialists. We are incredibly grateful for their work and our continued partnerships with organizations like New England Aquarium, NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), and so many others who work toward the conservation of sea turtles and other endangered species.
