How can we build resilience through community activation in the aftermath of disasters? SOUR is speaking at “Coming Together and Building Back Better”, a conference hosted by Istanbul Bilgi University, addressing the long-term impacts of the February 6, 2023 earthquakes in Turkiye and Syria. Inanc Eray’s talk, “Resilience Through Community Activation,” explores the role of communities in rebuilding efforts, sustainable recovery, and disaster resilience. Great design doesn't happen without Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in mind. Last October, we joined forces with Disability:IN, the leading nonprofit resource for business disability inclusion worldwide, the SVA MFA Interaction Design program, and Canva, one of the world’s best-known tools for design and publishing, to host an Iconathon community design workshop dedicated to creating new icons that help fill critical content gaps around accessibility and inclusion. Today, we're thrilled to share the new Accessibility icon collection, available to all for free as a public domain set. It was a year full of learning, exploration, synthesis and ideation around climate resiliency, post-disaster urban regeneration, plastic reduction in consumer goods, accessible packaging, community activation for environmental action, AI ethics, cultural transformation and capacity building in organizations.
