“More options don’t guarantee better outcomes.” WSPA COO Jodie Muller, CAE testified in front of Arizona lawmakers this week on House Bill 2300, which seeks to increase fuel supply flexibility by introducing new gasoline formulations. Important to underscore that overcomplicating an already complex system won’t solve problems. Instead, our focus should be on maintaining fuel reliability and affordability. #AZLeg #EnergyPolicy #FuelSupply Read more: https://lnkd.in/gwDNb772

The oil and gas industry contributes hundreds of billions of dollars to the state’s economy, yet California continues trying to regulate the viability out of our business—while placing the blame on us for high gas prices and supply issues. But don’t just take our word for it. A new study from Michael A. Mische with USC Marshall School of Business confirms what’s actually causing the most pain at the pump. https://lnkd.in/g-JfRm99

A new study by Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC) highlights the vital role our industry plays in California's economic landscape. Here are the main takeaways: - The oil industry supports over 536,000 jobs across California, providing opportunities for workers with diverse educational backgrounds. - Petroleum products are essential for various sectors, including transportation, agriculture, and manufacturing, which are pillars of our state's economy. - The oil and gas sector offers wages that exceed the state averages, contributing to the financial stability of many Californians. These findings highlight the industry's key contributions to our state's economy. As we shape our energy future, it's essential to recognize the ripple effect of energy production on communities across California. Day 3 at #CERAWeek 2025, and the conversation around U.S. energy leadership continues to gain momentum! Today, Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum delivered a strong message during the keynote luncheon: 🔹 Past domestic bans did not reduce energy demand—they only shifted supply, weakened U.S. infrastructure, and hurt American consumers. 🔹 We must stop permitting challenges, cut red tape, and get energy moving again. 🔹 Energy security = national security. Securing supply chains is critical for defense and economic stability. 🔹 Permitting reform is essential—reducing costs, creating regulatory certainty, and ensuring timely project execution. 🔹 The National Energy Dominance Council will identify strategic projects that need to move forward quickly and pinpoint policies that slow progress. 🔹 If you care about the environment, you should support every drop and every electron being produced domestically—because we do it cleaner, safer, and smarter than anyone else. Capital is returning, and states embracing low-cost, reliable energy are thriving. The path forward is clear—let’s lead! #EnergyLeadership #PermittingReform #EnergySecurity #CERAWeek

Please indulge my “nerding out” moment at #CERAWeek 2025… Few people have shaped the way we understand energy like Daniel Yergin. Meeting him last year was an honor, and this year, I had the opportunity to attend his book signing—walking away with a signed copy of The Prize, which will be a treasured possession. His insights continue to influence global energy conversations, and his ability to connect history, policy, and innovation is unmatched. Truly one of the greatest minds in energy! #EnergyLeadership #CERAWeek 2025 #ThePrize #DanielYergin #EnergyEvolution

Every year, International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month give us the opportunity to celebrate the progress we’ve made toward gender equality—while recognizing there’s still more to do. This year’s #IWD2025 theme, #AccelerateAction, reminds us that true equity requires action. At WSPA, we’ve embraced this commitment for years, from fostering an inclusive culture and equitable hiring to supporting our Women of WSPA Initiative (WOWI). But the most powerful progress comes from the women shaping and leading our industry every day. Women now make up nearly one-third of the oil & gas workforce, with leadership roles steadily rising. Our CEO Catherine Reheis-Boyd has spent her career rising in this industry, gaining a unique perspective on the power of mentorship, advocacy, and inclusion. In her latest blog, she reflects on the strides we’ve made, the work ahead, and how we can all accelerate progress. Read more: https://bit.ly/3Xz5bdL

In the latest Op-Ed from WSPA President, Cathy Reheis-Boyd, describes Division of Petroleum Market Oversight’s Director, Tai Milder’s recent update on the California gasoline market. In it, Milder failed to mention several other factors that affect high gas prices at the pump, including California State taxes. The latest numbers pulled from the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration, Low Carbon Fuel Standard data and recent Auction Settlement Price for California Carbon Allowances show that California consumers pay $1.07 in every gallon pumped. It’s time to stop making consumers pay the price for years of bad policy, and shifting blame on oil companies. Consumers want affordable and reliable energy now more than ever.
