Our Scout Executive/CEO Lee Harrison had the opportunity to interact and engage with the leadership of the LA28 Olympic & Paralympic Games, CEO (and Eagle Scout) Reynold Hoover and VP of Impact Erikk Aldridge at last night's LAX COASTAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE's Power Hour reception.
Let’s go LA28 Olympic & Paralympic Games! We're proud to celebrate Eagle Scout and retired U.S. Army Lieutenant General Reynold Hoover , now serving as CEO of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. I had the honor of meeting General Hoover and Vice President, Impact Erikk Aldridge at LAX COASTAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE’s Power Hour. In conversation with General Hoover, he shared a powerful story about helping to right a decades-old oversight: the long-delayed Eagle Scout award for Medal of Honor recipient Colonel Mitchell Paige. Colonel Paige, who earned his Eagle Scout in 1936 but never received the badge due to incomplete paperwork, went on to serve heroically in WWII. In 1942, he held off an assault by 2,500 enemy troops on Guadalcanal with a machine gun platoon of 33—every one of whom was killed or wounded. Decades later, General Hoover was part of the team that ensured Colonel Paige finally received his Eagle Scout award, a moment that united service, honor, and Scouting values. It’s inspiring to know that someone with such compassion, integrity, and commitment to excellence is leading the charge for LA28. General Hoover shared that he wants the Brisbane 2032 Games to look at LA and say, “How can we ever top that?” As someone who fondly remembers the excitement of the 1984 Games here in LA, I can’t wait to see the role Scouting America will play in making LA28 truly unforgettable. #LA28 #ScoutingAmerica #EagleScout #Leadership #Olympics #Service #GeneralHoover #ScoutsLA Western Los Angeles County Council, Scouting America
