The WCA has become a driving force in strengthening regional talent systems—and much of that momentum can be traced back to the Jobs Waiting program. Connecting job seekers with training and employment in high-demand jobs, this groundbreaking initiative provided a model for what’s possible when public leadership and regional collaboration align. The late Congresswoman Nita Lowey was instrumental in sparking this push. Her support launched a movement that led to transformative programs like the WCA’s Healthcare Talent Pipeline, Career Pathways initiative, regional Job Fairs, and our 1000 Jobs Challenge. From healthcare and finance to clean energy and beyond, these efforts have connected skilled individuals to critical roles—reshaping how Westchester prepares its workforce for the future. Watch this feature video to see our impact in action. #WCA75 #WorkforceDevelopment #EssentialJobs

The theme of WCA’s 6th Annual Regional Workforce Development Summit? The value of employer partnerships in boosting talent pipelines and strengthening our regional talent systems. 📚 Keynote speaker Kellianne Murphy emphasized that experiential learning provides students with structured, real world work experience combined with practical classroom learning. It helps students become fully prepared for the workforce upon graduation. One of our panelists, Kelli Baron-Cadiz said it best: “An engaged workforce is a productive workforce.” #WCA75 #WorkforceDevelopment Keynote Speaker: Kellianne Murphy Moderator: Kristin C. Big launch! The WCA and the Pace University Land Use Law Center kicked off a three-part climate training program for newly appointed land-use and zoning officials. Thanks to a Westchester County grant, participants are diving into best practices, technical resources, and smart strategies to collaborate with developers and strengthen climate resiliency across Westchester. A key component of this year’s program: a resiliency assessment and follow-up technical assistance for communities most at risk of flooding. Smart tools, real impact. #WCA75 #Sustainability #ClimateResilience

History was made this past weekend as WCA member Ken Jenkins was sworn in as County Executive, becoming the first Black County Executive in Westchester. Jenkins said, “Together, we will build a future that reflects the values we hold dear. The road ahead is long, but the strength and determination of this community will guide us every step of the way. And I stand here, humbly, to serve you and this great County. Our Westchester County.” Congratulations to Ken on behalf of the entire WCA. Westchester is in great hands. #CountyExecutive #Westchester
