Cardiovascular disease can take many forms. Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women; one person dies every 36 seconds in the United States from cardiovascular disease. A heart-healthy population is what we strive for at Resilience Healthcare, supported by our cardiologists, Dr. Amjad Sheikh at Weiss Memorial Hospital and Dr. Sabah Khan at West Suburban Medical Center. February was American Heart Month, and the Resilience team took part in the American Heart Association’s National Wear Red Day to help raise awareness for heart disease. #westsuburbanmedicalcenter #healthcareheroes #healthcareworkers #frontlineworkers #hospital #doctors #nurses #physicians #essentialworkers #oakpark

Our Resilience Healthcare PT team celebrates National Physical Therapy Month 2024! National Physical Therapy Month is celebrated in October to recognize the benefits of physical therapy and the work of physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, and students. The PTs, PTAs, and student physical therapists at Resilience see patients in the acute care hospitals, the post-acute rehab units at Weiss Memorial Hospital and West Suburban Medical Center, and also the outpatient therapy clinics at Weiss and the River Forest Medical Campus. The profession focuses on movement patterns, exercises, and education to help people recover from injuries or health events and learn to manage their ongoing recovery independently. #westsuburbanmedicalcenter #healthcareheroes #healthcareworkers #frontlineworkers #hospital #doctors #nurses #physicians #essentialworkers #oakpark

Our Mother and Baby Unit at West Suburban Medical Center is embarking on a new chapter, with a nationally recognized team of experienced OBGYNs providing all labor and delivery care 24x7. This provides the community access to a higher quality of care as we advance our mission to reduce the unacceptably high maternal and infant mortality rates in Black and Brown families. New and expectant mothers who come to West Suburban can expect to receive the highest quality care from experts in this field who reflect the diversity of the communities we serve. We are grateful to the nurse midwives at PCC who have provided care in this department for a number of years and remain hopeful they will become a part of this new chapter. Our offer to have PCC midwives work with our highly trained OBGYNs to continue to provide care stands and we are hopeful they will accept. As we move forward, please know labor and delivery services at West Suburban Medical Center will continue uninterrupted with higher quality care than ever before. Come in today for the safe and compassionate care you deserve.

River Forest Center for Cancer Care Nurse Navigator Cindy Rubic, RN recaps the Pink Divas and Gents Day of Beauty: Janel Moreland of Pink Divas and Gents (a breast cancer non-profit group that sponsors many events and provides ample free resources and support to our cancer patients and survivors) sponsored a "Day of Beauty" for our breast cancer patients on Saturday, September 14, in the River Forest Medical Campus Community Room. It was a fantastic day full of much deserved pampering for our warriors. We gave away 75 wigs, had a make-up artist, wig stylists, a brow/eyelash bar, massages, and snacks, and nobody left without a professional photo. There was beauty everywhere! It is an honor for our team to work with a group who gives so much to our patients! #westsuburbanmedicalcenter #healthcareheroes #healthcareworkers #frontlineworkers #hospital #doctors #nurses #physicians #essentialworkers #oakpark

West Suburban SAR celebrates Rehab Week 2024! Rehab Week was September 16-20, and the West Suburban Subacute Rehabilitation Unit celebrated each day with staff and residents, participating in fun activities and spending time together to promote the goals of rehab! Residents of the unit had a great time and appreciated the decorations, themed activities, and music, all organized by Activities Coordinator, Judi Escamilla. Judi puts her heart and soul into her work with the rehab team and residents each day, and the Subacute Rehab team recognized the amazing work she did to coordinate Rehab Week as well. Some highlights of the week were dancing during Luau Day, Bowling on Sports Day, BINGO during Casino Day, and being serenaded by therapists and residents for Rehab Karaoke! #westsuburbanmedicalcenter #healthcareheroes #healthcareworkers #frontlineworkers #hospital #doctors #nurses #physicians #essentialworkers #oakpark

River Forest Cancer Center patients receive support from community groups! The River Forest Cancer Center is not just an excellent center for medical care and treatment, but also a haven for support and sense of community for those in a time of need. The Cancer Center and Breast Center teams partner with several community groups to offer wellness activities and educational events to survivors and those receiving treatment. The goal of these programs is to create a community that is not just surviving, but thriving! One of those groups is Wellness House, which offers no-cost programs to educate, support, and empower participants to improve their physical and emotional well-being. Leann Siewert, an oncology exercise and engagement specialist from Wellness House, provides a mindful yoga series on Thursdays in the River Forest Community Room geared toward our breast cancer survivors. Another group, Pink Divas and Gents, is a breast cancer not-for-profit group that sponsors many events and provides ample free resources and support to cancer patients and survivors in the community. Recently, Janel Moreland of Pink Divas and Gents generously prepared and donated over 260 snack packs and water bottles for our patients in treatment at River Forest. This thoughtful act brought many smiles and provided much comfort to those undergoing treatment during a tough time. A little nourishment goes a long way! It is an honor to work with a group who gives so much to our community! Pictured: Leann Siewert from Wellness House leads a mindful yoga class at River Forest, Dr. Isoken Koko and the River Forest Cancer Center team prepare to deliver the nourishment packs to patients receiving treatments. #westsuburbanmedicalcenter #healthcareheroes #healthcareworkers #frontlineworkers #hospital #doctors #nurses #physicians #essentialworkers #oakpark

Resilience Healthcare helps our communities get ready for school! West Suburban Medical Center hosted the West Side Pastors’ Coalition for AIDS & Inner City Health Back to School Health & Resource Fair on August 10th, which provided free backpacks and school supplies thanks to generous contributions from our team members. Our booth at the event highlighted some of the services we provide and was anchored by Charmaine Webb, RN (Stroke Care); Noemi Voda, RN (Wound Care); and Dr. Julie Kafka (Sports Medicine). Weiss Memorial Hospital participated in the Back to School events at Brenneman School on August 21st. We were able to donate backpacks, pencils, markers, colored pencils, highlighters, erasers, pens, scissors, notebooks, glue, crayons, paper towels, folders, tissues, hand sanitizers, and disinfectant wipes. We want to thank all the Resilience employees who participated and hope the students of today will be our team members in the future! #westsuburbanmedicalcenter #healthcareheroes #healthcareworkers #frontlineworkers #hospital #doctors #nurses #physicians #essentialworkers #oakpark
