We Are Sharing Hope SC is the federally-designated Organ Procurement Organization (OPO) for organ and tissue recovery services in South Carolina. We Are Sharing Hope SC actively provides organ and tissue donor services to over 80 hospitals throughout the state, as well as community education to more than 4.6 million people. Staff at We Are Sharing Hope SC serve as critical support for families during their time of loss, offering the Gift of Life through donation as an opportunity to continue their loved one's legacy. 💙💚 Today we celebrated National Blue & Green Day alongside donor families and transplant recipients! Kevin Shwedo, Executive Director of SCDMV, and Sharon Kearns, a transplant recipient, raised the Donate Life flag at 1:08 PM—honoring the power of one organ donor to save up to eight lives. We were moved by a powerful presentation from Dr. Brittany Clayborne, a transplant recipient and cancer survivor, who shared an inspiring message about hope and resilience. Her words truly resonated with our staff and donation community. We wrapped up the day with candle making, rock painting and heartfelt moments of sharing personal donation stories. Today is #DonateLife Living Donor Day and we are celebrating living organ and tissue donors for saving and healing lives. In 2024, 7,030 people made the decision to give one of their kidneys or a part of their liver to someone waiting for a second chance at life. Today, we share the inspiring story of living donor, Farin, who donated her kidney to Jimmy just two weeks ago! Farin met Jimmy a little over a year ago, and he needed a kidney. He had been on dialysis and described the last five years of his life as the worst. This kidney would save his life. Just recently, Farin and Jimmy rang the bell together after a successful kidney transplant. Thank you to everyone who has given the gift of life! Your altruism inspires us all.
