🚀 Amazon's First Quantum Chip – Ocelot! ⚛️ Amazon Web Services (AWS) recently unveiled Ocelot, its first in-house quantum chip. This is a big shift—from hosting third-party quantum services to building its own quantum hardware. Ocelot leverages "cat qubits"—bosonic qubits that naturally suppress bit-flip errors, making quantum error correction more efficient by reducing the error correction overhead by up to 90%. The chip’s hybrid architecture combines cat qubits with transmon qubits, ensuring robust error correction alongside high-speed computation.⚡ Designed as a small-scale prototype with two stacked silicon microchips, AWS estimates scaling to 100 logical qubits would require only 1,000 physical qubits (a 10:1 ratio), marking a major leap in resource efficiency.
