Transforming the lives of abused and neglected children
About us
Voices for Children transforms the lives of abused, neglected, or abandoned children in San Diego and Riverside Counties by providing them with trained, volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs). We believe that every child deserves a safe and permanent home, and to that end, will review and monitor every court file in the system, provide a CASA to every child in the foster care system who needs one, and advocate to improve the lives of San Diego County’s foster children.

A heartfelt thank you to the City of Imperial Beach for their recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Month and for inviting Voices for Children to be part of such an important moment. We appreciate the city's dedication to improving the lives of children and families. Your support helps raise awareness about the importance of preventing child abuse and promoting the well-being of our future generations. April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and there's no better time to think about how one person can make a lasting impact in the life of a child in foster care. At Voices for Children, we recruit and train compassionate Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteers to advocate for children in foster care — ensuring they have a voice in decisions that affect their future. By serving as a CASA volunteer, you can help create a brighter, safer tomorrow for a child in need. Interested in making a difference? Visit speakupnow.org to learn more! Join us in congratulating our Riverside County CASA of the Month, Julia P.! 🥳 Her unwavering advocacy and compassion have made all the difference for 17-year-old Jennifer* and 15-year-old Nicole*, two sisters who’ve faced unimaginable challenges. Because of CASA Julia, Jennifer, and Nicole’s voices were heard, their truths were brought to light, and their safety was no longer in question. Her actions served as a powerful reminder to everyone involved that the role of a CASA is not just about offering guidance; it’s about standing firm in the face of adversity, being the advocate when others are too quick to dismiss, and never giving up on the children who depend on someone to believe in them. Read the full, heartfelt story of CASA Julia’s impact on Jennifer and Nicole’s lives and how she continues to be a critical support system for them 👉 https://buff.ly/1lC0glu #CASAoftheMonth #CASAschangelives #CASAVolunteers #voicesforchildren #RiversideCounty #CourtAppointedSpecialAdvocate #becomeaCASA #volunteer #speakupforyouthinfostercare #shareyourvoice #makeadifference

Congratulations to our San Diego County CASA of the Month, Hailey E.! 🎉 CASA Hailey has played a crucial role in supporting 3-year-old Sadie, a young girl navigating the foster care system and reunifying with both of her parents. From thoughtful gestures like bringing bubbles 🫧 to visits to advocating for Sadie’s needs, Hailey has made a lasting impact by not only supporting Sadie through tough times but also ensuring she has the foundation she needs to thrive ✨ Today, Sadie is a bright, confident 4-year-old, thriving with her parents, enjoying preschool, and spending time with her older siblings. This success is a testament to CASA Hailey’s dedication to bridging the gaps between Sadie’s biological family, caregivers, social workers, and professionals, helping everyone feel heard and fostering strong relationships. Huge thanks to everyone who joined us for our Real World Speakers Panel! ✨ We were honored to hear from four incredible individuals—Anthony, Vanessa, Emanual, and Josh—who bravely shared their personal journeys through the foster care system. Their stories of overcoming adversity, hope, and growth were a true testament to the power of relationships, trust, and support. They also highlighted how, oftentimes, the first trusting and supportive relationship youth in foster care have is with their Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA). The panelists shared invaluable lessons for all CASAs: Listen Without Judgment – Sometimes, all a youth needs is someone who will listen and understand without jumping to conclusions or offering immediate solutions. Consistency Matters – Be there when you say you will. Consistent support and presence can make all the difference. Small Details Count – It’s often the little things, like remembering a favorite food or a hobby, that show you genuinely care and pay attention. Respect Their Choices – Allow youth to explore their own path, even if it’s not the one you would have chosen. Empower them to make their own decisions and feel heard. Build Trust Slowly – Trust doesn’t happen overnight, but with patience and dedication, a CASA can become a crucial part of a youth’s journey. These courageous young adults reminded us that with the right support, anything is possible. There are currently hundreds of local youth in foster care who are in need of a CASA volunteer. They need someone to step up and speak up for them during what can be a scary and challenging time. St. Patrick's Day 🍀 is the perfect time to talk about how lucky children are when community members generously volunteer their time to serve as Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs). As someone who cares deeply about our community and the welfare of our children, help change the luck of a child in foster care by taking just 5 minutes out of your day to recommend someone you know to become a CASA volunteer 👉 https://buff.ly/3L2nG40 It can be a friend, family member, or co-worker – anyone you admire who can speak up for a vulnerable child! Right now, there is a critical need for bilingual (English - Spanish) community members to become CASA volunteers and advocate for children in foster care. #voicesforchildren #CASAschangelives #stpatricksday #luckytohaveCASAs #advocateforchildren #communitysupport #makeadifference
