In October, we celebrate Employee Ownership and how it sets VisionFirst apart from other companies. However, there are many other reasons why employees love working here. So, why choose VisionFirst? In addition to being an ESOP, we are locally owned and operated, with 18 locations that serve communities across Kentucky and Indiana. We offer full-time and part-time opportunities, as well as health insurance and a 401(k). We also take pride in providing our employees with work/life balance. In 2016, VisionFirst Eye Care proudly transitioned to becoming an employee-owned practice. What is an ESOP? An Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) is a type of retirement plan different than a traditional 401(k) that invests primarily in company stock and holds its assets in a trust for employees. Upon retirement, employees can then cash out on the shares they earned throughout their tenure with the company, which creates a retirement fund. Unlike a 401(k), ESOPs do not require a monthly contribution and are based on factors like time with the company.

VisionFirst has been providing professional eye care services to families in Central Kentucky and Southern Indiana since 1973. In 2016, VisionFirst Eye Care underwent a significant transformation and proudly transitioned to an employee-owned practice after years of expanding into multiple areas and opening new locations, which now total 18. At present, our team comprises 38 optometrists and over 200 dedicated staff members, all of whom are now employee-owners. They are deeply committed to serving our local communities. VisionFirst's eye care professionals attend to more than 300,000 patients annually, ensuring the highest standard of care for each individual.
