New Full Time Opening The Community Development Department of the Village of Lake Zurich is seeking candidates for the position of Building Services Supervisor. The Community Services Facility is located at 505 Telser Road in Lake Zurich. Business hours are typically 7:00 am – 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Position Responsibilities: Performs skilled technical work administering, enforcing and interpreting the local, state, and federal building and property maintenance codes and related local laws and ordinances; supervising, assigning and reviewing work of staff; and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Community Services Director. Divisional supervision is exercised over assigned staff. Responsibilities Include but are not limited to: · Review and approve building permit and occupancy applications. · Evaluate construction plans and specifications. · Direct and supervise the plan review and iInspection staff. · Conduct on-site inspections. · Assist in the development and implementation of building policies and procedures. · Enforce building and property maintenance codes, zoning codes, and safety regulations. · Represent the Village during adjudication hearings and court proceedings. · Work with residents and property owners in order to resolve violations. · Maintenance of records of inspections, permits, and code violations and assist with the preparation of Freedom of Information requests. Position Qualifications: Qualified candidates will have six (6) years of management experience in overseeing building inspection, plans examination, permitting, and related activities in a public agency setting; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or a field related to the work preferred. Position also requires a valid driver’s license and must obtain ICC certification as a Building Official within one (1) year of hire. Compensation and Benefits: The starting annual salary is $97,936.00. Comprehensive benefits include health, dental, vision, and life insurance, paid vacation, sick, and holiday leave, and participation in the IMRF pension fund.
